will take a look at those numbers in just a few minutes. >> we're starting out the morning with a partly cloudy conditions. it will be a bit warmer today than what we saw yesterday. will take a look at the visibility and give you this coming up. >> we are pushing closer to the peak of their morning commute and we are still seeing pretty light conditions. the bay bridge toll plaza is backed up once again. no accidents to report is to slow traffic. if you should have on an extra seven minutes. the rest of the bay area rose look good. it is still pretty smooth and easy and no incidents to report coming out of the north bay. >> overnight a strong earthquake jolted the
northeastern part of the country this morning. a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck in the pacific ocean are around 518 local time. that is around midnight here in san francisco. the usgs says the earthquake struck about 200 mi. off the coast of japan. the epicenter was about 6 mi. beneath the seabed. >> and here is video from youtube when the earthquake hit in japan. buildings and tokyo swayed for several minutes. a 6.2 aftershock struck after the close after the initial quake. >> a men is in critical
condition this morning after he fell from the upper deck of oakland coliseum at last night's raiders game. kron 4 urs will tran joins us live from the coliseum. we'll? >> this rail is pretty much typical or around the coliseum and it goes as high as your chest level. there is nothing that could a prevented him from falling more. there stating that he possibly jumps. unless they talk to him and hopefully pulls through this as well as the witnesses. they're going with the fact that he just felt. they're looking at the fact that maybe at all was in his system when this happened. they're conducting blood test to see if this played a role. the raiders stated that they are leaving this up to investigators. they stated
that the oakland police department and the sheriffs are handling this investigation. the raiders are stain that their thoughts are with the family. >> at this point there are a lot of questions out there. >> we're watching wall street and there is a rise for the dow we had the jobs report, for the month of november. it was a bit of a surprise. the u.s. added 146,000 jobs last month. this drops the unemployment rate to 7.7%. if this is the lowest since december 2008. we will see how this news impacts the market is when they open and about 50 minutes, but some positive news on the jobs front. >> a month after his
reelection. president obama has his highest approval rating in more than a year. an associated press poll finds that the president's rating stands at 57% to highest since may of last year. when a seals killed al qaeda leader osama bin laden. the poll also finds more americans think the nation isdirection. 42 percent say that the country is on the right track and a majority believe is likely mr. obama will improve the economy. >> the u.s. supreme court is scheduled to meet behind closed doors began today to consider reviewing the legal issues regarding same-sex marriage. that includes the challenge to california's
controversial proposition 8. if the court refuses to review the prop. 8 case same-sex marriage would be legal in california and same-sex couples could marry as soon as next week. >> san jose firefighters are investigating three alarm fire that ripped through a restaurant. the fire broke out last night around 930 at the pasta pomodoro on san felipe road. authorities say that the restaurant was opened for business at the time of the fire. hit it was under control within 1/2 hour. >> a hit-and-run accident in san jose has left one person dead. residue from police
flares, mark the spot where it all happen wednesday evening on the busy white road in san jose. witnesses told police, and pedestrian was struck and killed, as e.j. what southbound, near the vietnamese community center. there has been other accidents in this area but this is the first pedestrian fatality in recent memory. >> police in foster city are bison residence to secure their vehicles after nine separate auto burglaries were reported this week. the ninth car break-in was reported wednesday. most of these break-ins happened along shale boulevard and emerald bay lane. officers say that burglar prevailed on unlocking vehicles or broke windows to gain entry. items like purses, electronics, gps devices and other items that were left with in view were stolen. residents are reminded to keep all their valuable items out of view. and to

new trial while apple is arguing for a increase in the damages award. >> bmw is recalling almost 250,000x-five suv's worldwide. the recall is for and x-five models with diesel engines from years 2009 to 2012. the u.s. national highway safety administration says a bolt holding a built pullye can be come loose and break. the driver to lose control of the vehicle and the power high staring if that bolt breaks. >> starbucks will pay $60 million in additional taxes in the united kingdom. the
announcement comes in response to recent outcry in the u.k. that multi national companies are skirting taxes by shifting profits overseas divisions. the managing director of starbucks u.k. says that they have always paid their taxes to the letter of the law. but will make additional payments in 2013 and 2014 despite the fact that the u.k. unit is not yet profitable.
>> local reservoirs' have seen a much needed increase in water levels since the last weekend storms. reserves and santa clara improve significantly with the right fog, but levels are still not exactly where they need to be. since last wednesday, the santa clara valley water district says that the average stores in their reservoirs' increased from 74 to 91 percent of where they should normally be. east bay mud says all there reservoirs' are now at 85 percent capacity. as far as water supply--they are in good shape. to many more storms, they will have to release some water into creeks to maintain the levels. >> this is a live look from the roof cam and there is a beautiful start to the morning. we are just dealing with cloudy conditions right

50s and by noon time it will be 60's and very similar to yesterday's. for those you are heading up this evening it will draw back out to the '50s. that is a live valley and the south bay will get to the upper 50s this afternoon. 63 degrees in santa rosa, 63 for san rafael. for those of you head into tahoe we're not expecting more snow to fall. it will be very chilly there. belo will be 20s. as we take a look at the 7 day around the bay. >> it will be warmer into the weekend and starting your next work week the temperatures will drop. if there will be a chance to us showers. >> traffic is well-behaved
around the bay area with the exception to the bay bridge toll plaza. we are jammed from all of the approaches and there are a lot of delays. we are between five to eight minutes. the metering lights are activated. we still continue to see problems for the upper deck. for those few who are lucky enough to use the san mateo bridge they have no incidents to report. southbound 1 01 is no issues and the visibility is dance. ense. visibility will improved as a major rate closer to san francisco. >> the traffic map shows a accident on the mimic the freeway. this is a around

zero visibility of the bill th. clear skies out there and livermore is also down to zero visibility. for today at a little color is your stepping out the door on friday morning. it will be a little warmer with lots of sunshine today. it will allow for warmer temperatures today. into the weekend sunny and the next chance for showers arrive next week. i will have more details on your seven day forecast but here is erica first with traffic >> we do have a hot spot on our hands westbound 580 and december fell bridge. this incident is no longer being reported on the chp traffic laws but what happens is we had an accident right at the toll plaza blocking two of the lanes. you can still see a black back up theire. a

was the case on hold to review other cases it would be put off the final decision on the law unsell this spring. we will wait to see what the court decides to do. >> a man is in critical condition after he fell from the upper deck of the oakland coliseum during last night's raiders game. will tran joins us live this morning to piece together what happened here >> you will not believe this! i just got off the phone with the sheriff's department and they tell me he fell 30 ft.. he fell from the inside of the coliseum to the outside. we're talking the upper decks of the lower concourse. the oakland police department said there finish with their investigation. they're handling this because they felt he fell in the area that is patrolled by the police department. he was taken to highland hospital. they chose the hospital because it has a trauma unit. they are investigating several things including whether not out of
literalness. they talk to witnesses and they cannot say for certain. they're not releasing his name at this point of the police of our men believe they know what happened. they're going with eiffel accidently. their report reports that he may have jumped but we're talking to people out here and they believe this was purely accidental. >> they will also want to talk to people that were around there and see if there's any kind of fight. was there? >> no there was not. no arguments, no suicide attempts. as far as their investigation is concerned it is all but wrapped up at this point. they believe it was purely accidental. you asked me earlier about the guard rail and it is pretty much the same height of around the coliseum. it is at chest level. he fell and it is purely a medical situation. it is not a
criminal investigation. >> if you look of the railings there there is a lot of seeing and goes free high up. what are they going to do? what could they do? the you think there'll be a lawsuit was situations like this? is the venue or team to blame? are they talking about that at all? >> the oakland raiders are not commenting on anything as far as the colosseum. they're leaving it to the oakland police department to handle it. there is saying their thoughts and prayers are with this guy who's still in hospital this morning. >> a strong earthquake hit japan with a 7.3 magnitude. off the coast about 200 mi. around 518 local time. this is right near the spot where two years ago and 9.0 earthquake hit and then the tsunami of the japanese coast that killed 20,000 people. this earthquake was

reservoirs' have seen a much needed increase in water level since last weekend storms. the reserves and a clear and prove significantly with the rain fall but levels are not exactly where they need to be. since last wednesday the santa clara with valley water district's as average storage in their tent reservoirs' increased from 74 to 91 percent of where they should normally be. that is an increase of nearly 4 billion gal. of water. and the east bay reservoir is increased about 3%. east side says all of

raiders fan is in the hospital after falling from the upper deck at last night's game against the denver broncos. the fall happen shortly after kickoff. kron fours will tran is at the coliseum with more on what happened. >> the man fell from the upper deck to the lower concourse. what we have learned is t he fell 30 ft. he actually fell from inside the coliseum to the outside. the oakland police department are classifying this as purely accidental. there were reports that he was either jumping or this could have been something where he had been pushed. according to the investigators at the police department is was deadly accident. in fact when they responded there was a medical response. they could have taken him anywhere but they chose to taken to highland hospital because his injuries were bad and highland hospital comes equipped with a trauma unit. >> we do not know if alcohol
